To My Parents: A Letter From Your College Daughter

Dear Mom and Dad,

First things first, I want you both to know how loved and appreciated you are even when it may not seem it. Both of you are incredible in your own ways and never fail to impress me by the way you live your lives. You've set such an amazing example for me and truly showed me what it's like to live in a life of Christ. Through you I have been able to grow my relationship with Christ and see the amazing things he is capable of in someone's life. When I come to school to see the various types of people, and see how they were raised, I know I was blessed by the family I was given and the way I was able to be raised.

Second, thank you for everything you've ever done for me and continue to do. Whether that's a simple hug on the way out of the door, or something bigger such as putting me through college at a school of my dreams– you have both taught me how to be a lady, and shown me what to look for in a true, Godly man in which I can marry. And you have shown me that it's okay to not be 4.0 smart, or have the best grades in the family but to just always do my best. I have tried to do just that and hopefully make you proud. Thank you for the never ending trips you make to come visit me at school, and for always bringing Zoe along when you come. You both impress me every day with each and every thing you do, and I truly am glad I have the role models I do. Everything you've done truly has had an impact on me and the way I live today, and I'm so glad it has.

Lastly, thank you for always picking the phone up when I'm 230 miles away just needing a dose of home, or a dose of you. Also thank you for putting the puppy on Skype because you know she makes me smile. You're the source of many of my smiles and the pick me up of my sadnesses. You never fail to make me smile and lift my moods which is something I will never forget. I could never thank you enough for the things you do for me, the way I was raised, and the happiness you give me. Don't ever forget that much love for you is waiting here in Mississippi and is ready for you whenever you need.

Love,

Kenzie

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
