Dear Mr.Trump,
I'm not sure how to start this. You probably would just look at this and say that another "miss piggy" wrote it, or a fat girl, or a girl who knows nothing about politics or life.
I grew up differently than you. I grew up with my single mother telling me to treat everyone equally, that we all have a say in this world we have created, and that we all have one life to live so we need to help each other. I can't imagine growing up as a child now, seeing you on TV and possibly thinking that to do the opposite is what is right.
I tried really hard to understand the things you have said. That calling woman vile and vulgar words was locker room talk, that the wall you want to put up will "protect us," etc. etc. I've tried, I really have. But my brain, nor my heart, can truly feel that that is something that is okay.
When your news came out about your locker room talk, I had just begun to go through the process of my sexual assault. You also made a public statement to a woman about how good she would look "dropping to her knees." I thought about my own experiences and even second guessed myself because of you. Sexual assault is not locker room talk, Mr.Trump. It's a violation of anyone's right to their own body. Would you like it if a woman, or hey even a man, came up to you and touched you with out your consent? Let me say that if that happened to you, all hell would probably break loose and you'd blame it on the gay community, or women in general. Am I right?
I then thought about your daughters, your grandchildren, your wife and how you can even remotely think that this is okay for them to hear the things you are saying; that it's alright to kiss someone or touch someone with out consent. That it's okay to degrade woman by their skin color or the size of their bodies. That their main job, as a woman, is to please men. What about that any other person who has different colored skin should be looked down upon?
The thing is, Mr.Trump, this is America. We are made up of every kind of person in this world. We aren't "one" kind, we are all different kinds coming together for the purpose of this country and our president needs to understand that. Our president needs to hope, to love, to fight for what is right, and to accept our "America" for what it is and find a way to help it for the better.
I want to make America "great" too. But this last year I've seen some amazing things happen that have been waiting too long to occur in our country. America is great in certain aspects, but it sure as hell won't continue to be if you decide to take everything we have gained, everything we have learned and fought for and throw it in the trash.
Sincerely,
A girl who will always fight for what is right
