Dear Men, You're Allowed To Feel

As a female, I feel bad.

It has occurred to me, men have this mindset that they are not allowed to express their emotions. It absolutely blows my mind considering all the famous male artists that feed off of their feelings.

As boys when they get hurt, they are told from a very young age to toughen up or walk it off. When girls get hurt they are held and told that it is OK. In some cases, we are even told to cry it out. While I am not a guy, I think it is safe to say that this plays into the reason why men aren’t so quick to express their emotions.

It makes me sad. Expressing your emotions is healthy as long as it is done in a healthy way. Holding your emotions in and bottling them up is not the way to go. You might be thinking, “Right but I cry alone so it’s OK” Sure, but talking about them is how you get closure, especially if it’s with someone who is involved in the situation.

I don’t know why men find it hard to express their emotions, maybe they just want to seem tough. Whatever it may be, it’s time for a change!

Women don’t care if you show your emotions, in fact, most of us would love it if you would show them more often! We can’t read your mind and we would love to help you! Just keep in mind, there are some things you might need professional help with sometimes you really do need to just suck it up, buttercup!

Personally, men that can express their emotions in a healthy manner not only seem stronger than those who can’t but become more attractive. You guys aren’t rocks with no emotions! You are human, you are made to feel!

We were not created to live a stress-free, perfect, unproblematic, easy life. We are made to experience all these emotions, fall apart, and cry. Without pain, how are we to know joy?

A man who cries shouldn't be rare. We all feel these emotions, we should all be able to cry whenever the heck we feel like it without being judged for the reason we are crying. If it’s OK for a woman to cry over it, it’s OK for a man to cry over it. As long as you’re not crying because your girlfriend broke her nail! Because yes, that really does hurt us physically and financially! You try paying 40 plus dollars for a set and having one break.

Here’s to all the boys feeling depressed, going through some hard times, or just feeling sad. You are not alone and you are allowed to feel the way you’ve been feeling! Long to be happy, strive to feel better and be healthy emotionally — none of which mean that you have to be OK all of the time!

To every guy with a mental illness, every man that has gone through something traumatic, there is a light, you are not alone, and it’s OK to feel broken.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
