Just in case you haven't heard, which I don't think is possible because it's quite literally everywhere on the internet right now, Logan Paul is a YouTuber that made funny vlogs. He recently made a video of going into the "suicide forest" in Aokigahara, Japan, and he found a hanging body. He attempted to shine some light on the topic of suicide but failed miserably.
Dear Logan Paul,
I first heard about you from my younger brother and his sister. They are obsessed with watching funny YouTube videos and watching y'all roast each other by rapping. They look up to y'all for a good laugh, and so do all of their friends.
Suicide is a very touchy subject for a lot of people. We have either thought about doing it, or we know somebody that did it. It's hard to talk about, and it's even harder to think about. I understand that you were just trying to get more people to be educated about the subject with your video. The way you did it was just not the correct way to shine a light on this topic.
There are plenty of platforms that help with anything suicide prevention related. Logic had a whole song dedicated to it. He made it a song that people could relate, so even the title, "1-800-273-8255" is the suicide prevention hotline. If anyone felt like they could relate to this song then all they had to do was look at the title and call the number. Logic had a perfect way of shining light on the subject.
I first heard about the "suicide forest" in Japan a few years ago. I thought it would be interesting to go out there just to see if people actually went there to die. I would've been just as shocked as Logan and the other people were in the video when they saw the body.
The difference between what they did and what anyone else would've done is that you filmed your reaction, sat there, edited the video, and specifically blurred out the person's face.
That's the thing most people can't wrap their brains around. Y'all found the dead body, joked a bit about it, tried to say how depression and suicide are serious topics, edited, and then uploaded the video.
My stomach literally hurt while watching the video, and I bet that's how it was for everyone else that watched it. I couldn't believe you filmed a guy hanging in a tree lifeless, and only blurred out his face. Everyone wants to see this video that has all the buzz around it. You took it down because you started getting all of the backlash of shocked viewers.
I bet you thought you were trying to help. I bet you didn't think too much about it because you just wanted the views. You regret ever posting the video. To anybody trying to defend his actions, don't. Jeffree Star quoted your apology video saying how insincere the "apology" video you posted was, and all of your fans started messaging him and threatening his life.
This isn't how it should be. #Logang4Life, right? This is something that nobody thought would happen. Everyone knows your name now. You are quite literally trending on Twitter right now. Taking a break from YouTube is what's best for you, so good job on deciding that. I bet you'll always think about what you post, and how it can affect people next time.
