Grandma, Thank You For Being The Loudest Voice In The Room

To The Grandma, I Love With All My Heart,

All of my life, I can’t remember a moment when you weren’t there. From the day I was born, you have been there to be my living guardian angel. You watched over me as I took my first steps, said my first words, played in my first game, and took my first steps into the real world when I graduated high school and took on college. I can’t imagine what my life would have been like without you there, and I have so much to thank you for.

First of all, thank you for creating the wonderful woman that is my mother, and blessing me with her. Without her, I wouldn’t be here today (literally!), but I also wouldn’t be the strong, independent, and bright young woman that I am today. She has helped shape me to become a good and honest person, and I know it’s because you shaped her the same way. Without her, I wouldn’t be standing here today, with more confidence than I’ve ever had, and chasing my dreams no matter where they take me, and it’s all because of you. Because you raised such an amazing woman and poured your heart into making her great, causing your greatness to shine through her.

Thank you for always being there for me, no matter when it was. No matter how big or small, you always answered my call when I needed you, or sending me a text with a million cute emojis when you knew that I was having a rough day. Even if it’s just something small, like fixing a rip in my jeans or fulfilling my request for a bag full of cinnamon rolls, you always do it as quickly as you can and do it without a complaint in the world. But when it comes to bigger things, you are always there with kind words and open arms for when my heart was broken, I was having a bad day, or even when that was all I needed. Thank you for being the loudest voice in the crowd for my accomplishments, for continuing to be my #1 cheerleader through it all, always having chocolate chip cookies exactly when I need them, and for always telling everyone how proud you were to be my grandma. The simple act of you just being there has changed my life immensely, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have a grandma as amazing as you.

Finally, thank you for always having open ears that listen endlessly and an open heart that loves unconditionally. I cherish the moments that we’ve spent talking out on the porch with every piece of my heart, and I couldn’t imagine having anyone as my constant sounding board. When I’m with you, even talking about the hard things become bearable, and talking about the exciting things feels like Christmas morning. No matter what, your words are always comforting and your voice makes me feel like I can tell you anything, and that makes life so much easier knowing I always have someone in my corner whose love is unconditional. Knowing that you always have my back and that you will never give up on me just because I’ve failed at something makes me realize how lucky I am to have you in my life, and how much your love has impacted me. I wouldn’t be here today without you Grandma, and I want you to know, my love for you is unconditional, and I am extremely proud to call myself your granddaughter.

Love,

Your Sweet Little Girl

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
