Dear Future Husband

A little different from Meghan Trainor's list.

Dear Future Husband,

"Here's a few things you need to know if you want to be my one and only, all my life..."

Yes, this is a quote from a Meghan Trainor song, but her list is a little bit different from mine. Although I don't believe that I've met you yet, I imagine that you look somewhat like Adam Levine, Josh Duhamel, or Dave Franco, but as they say looks aren't everything. As a woman, my standards are as high as my heels...which are very high. My brother once told me, "Never settle for anything less than you deserve, and just know you deserve the world." I hope you can become my world, by possessing these characteristics.

1. Love God.

My first wish, because it's the most important. How can you love me if you don't love the person who created me? Help me raise our children to believe in God and His awesome plan for all of us.

2. Love your family.

Nothing is more attractive to me in a man than the love he has for his family. If you love your parents, siblings, grandparents, etc., doesn't that mean you'll have the biggest capacity to love the family we make?

3. Be motivated.

Be motivated to work hard for your family, and find a job that you love! There's no sense in having a full time job that you hate. Take opportunities and step out of your comfort zone to provide for us. We will love you no matter what.

4. Communicate with me.

I ask you to be open and honest with me when communicating. Communication is the one of the most important things in a relationship and helps us grow stronger as a couple. And I'm not just saying that because that's my college major ;).

5. Compromise.

Marriage is all about compromise, especially when deciding who gets to cook dinner and clean the dishes after. Meet me halfway, and I promise we'll figure things out.

6. Have a love for travel.

Let's take a cruise to exotic places or fly to Europe. Be spontaneous and book random plane tickets to places all around the world. Help me accomplish my goal of staying overnight in every state in the U.S. Be my travel buddy for life.

7. Be my best friend.

I hope that you'll tell me everyday how much you love me and accept me for times when I fail. Help me become a better person and love me until the day I die.

Although no one is perfect, I ask that you try your hardest to be the best husband to me, and I promise I will try my hardest to be the best wife to you.

I know you're out there somewhere, and I can't wait for the day that I get to say
"I do" to you.

Love,

Your Future Wife

P.S. "Future Husband, better love me right."

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
