Dear Frog Football,
It's easy to be a fan when you're screaming your lungs off after a miracle catch. It's easy to be a fan when you're storming the field after beating your rival team in triple OT. It's easy to be a fan when you're waiting for the rankings to see how many spots you moved up. In all those cases, it's easy to be a fan.
It's not so easy to be a fan when you lose a heart-breaker. It's not so easy to be a fan when you see others around you walking away from this team. It's not so easy to be a fan when you drop out of the rankings.
But let me tell you, it's so much more worth it.
See it's easy to support someone when they're on top. It's easy to jump on bandwagon. In short, it's easy to do things when they're easy. But it's not as rewarding.
In my opinion, the strength of a team isn't shown by the number of checks in its W column. The strength of a team is shown in its humbleness and grace, both on and of the field. The strength of a team is shown in the passion of its fans, no matter the outcome. The strength of a team isn't really about the game at all.
So this letter, TCU football, is to say thank you.
Thank you for letting me be a fan, even when it's not so easy. Thank you for giving me great games to watch and a team to cheer for always. Thank you for letting me be a part of something so crazy big and beautiful.
I've always loved football, its a huge part of what brought me to TCU. But I never knew what it mean to be a TRUE fan until I came here.
I'm proud of you Horned Frogs, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings. This program is great, this school is great.
Go Frogs!
Love,
Mary
