To the only man who may ever have my whole heart,
On Father’s Day and every day, I love you.
And in case I forgot to say it before, thank you…
For the advice I never knew I needed
Whether it was “nothing good happens after midnight” or “you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you shouldn’t pick your friend’s nose”, there are just some things that I didn’t understand until now (or still don’t).
For never doubting me
From the hurdles on the track in high school to the hurdles of everyday life, knowing I undoubtedly had one fan cheering me on was sometimes all I needed.
For always cheering the loudest
But sometimes coming close second to mommy.
For the endless home cooked meals
As much as I take you and your angelic cooking abilities for granted, lord knows I would be lost without them.
For making sure I know home is only a phone call away
Though I’ll always have a special place in my heart for home sweet home, you taught me there’s so much more to home than a place.
For the laughs
Especially the times I laugh so hard I cry (often).
For saying it best, when you say nothing at all
“The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall.”
For teaching me the value of a moment
However small and insignificant a moment may seem, if it made you happy to be alive, hold it close.
For turning those moments into memories
And always bringing the pictures back out every chance you get.
For keeping me safe
While giving me freedom (well, most of the time).
For showing me adventure
And letting me fall in love with the world.
For allowing me to make poor life decisions and often joining in
Such as eating eight scoops of ice cream in one sitting and feeling no remorse.
For proving that you don’t have to have it all together to have it all
You’ve broken every toe too many times to count but hey, you’re still livin’.
For being my best friend in the entire world
I hope to one day give you everything you’ve given me, but that is no easy task.
ily much, sydneysue
