To the seniors graduating this year from both college and high school, I would first like to start by saying congratulations, you've made it. For you high school seniors, you've made it past the awkwardness that is high school. For you college seniors, you have made it into the real world. As a sophomore in college, I know a thing or two about both the college and high school lifestyle. I want to write this to you all with my best wishes and best advice.
Dear college and high school seniors,
You must feel great. Graduating high school may not seem like such a big deal, but trust me, it is. You now get to start making big decisions about your life. It is scary, because now, you have to figure out what you want to do next. Will you go to college? Are you going to get a job? Should you travel the world? Well, it's up to you. The unique thing about graduating high school is you are still innocent and things seem so exciting and new. Never lose that perspective.
College seniors, I wish you the best. I look up to those of you that are graduating. Whether you have a job lined up or not, you should be proud you have made it to this point in your life. Not everyone has the privilege to even attend college, let alone graduate. Give yourself a pat on the back and don't let anyone take away your accomplishments, even if it did take you longer to graduate than expected.
To both college and high school seniors, I know you worried what the future holds. I will say this to you high school seniors: be prepared. Be prepared to possibly lose old friends, but make new ones. Be prepared to start taking on more responsibility. Be prepared to become just a little more stressed, but also be prepared to enter one of the best times of your life because of all the new opportunities that await you. College seniors, there is not much I can say, simply because of the fact that I myself am still in college, but just know that I admire you. Know that you shouldn't be scared of the future, because you have people that are cheering you on. Know that even though you aren't ready to start "adulting," you'll be okay, because you have a younger generation looking to you for inspiration.
I hope you seniors going into the next chapter of your lives are excited. Congrats on making it this far and congrats on graduating. The world is yours. Go make the best of it.
