For those who have siblings, whether they are younger or older, it’s hard to be able to have your privacy. It’s also rough because they do things to annoy you on purpose. But at the end of the day, they are a part of your family and you love them. Here are 12 different things you had to deal with when it comes to growing up with siblings.

1. Getting in trouble for something your sibling did because you have to “set an example.”

This is why being the older sibling kind of sucks because you can do absolutely nothing and it’s still your fault.

2. Thinking about the leftover food you’re going to eat after coming home from school only to realize that your sibling ate it.

I swear I’m always ready to fight. You could even have your name on it and place it towards the back of the fridge and it still gets eaten.

3. You guys wrestle every day.

Every time I get a chance to watch TV, my brother decides that he wants to watch it too. Especially when it’s MY time. We always have to wrestle for the remote or basically ANYTHING. And in the end, we get in trouble (mainly me).

4. Hearing your sibling get spanked in the other room…but you’re next.

Not going to lie, it feels good when they get what they deserve. Especially when you guys are both running away from an ass beating and he gets caught first. But you’re still up next.

5. Being forced to get along after an argument.

If my mom ever made us wear this shirt I would lose it. This is cruel. Instead, she just forced us to go on errands with her and make us sit next to each other.

6. Sharing a room with them is a nightmare.

If you didn’t have a bunkbed growing up, then god bless! My brother would purposely try to kick under my bed to irritate me. I’m so glad I finally have my own room because I don’t think I would be able to survive at 20 and sharing a room with my brother.

7. They’re always taking your stuff without permission

Just because it’s the same size, doesn’t mean it’s yours…

8. If you’re the oldest, you’re forced to babysit…FOR FREE

I was ALWAYS on babysitting duty too and it wasn’t fair because my brother would never listen to me since “I’m not the boss,” and it was worse because I wasn’t getting anything out of it.

9. They know all of your deepest, darkest secrets

Especially during an argument in front of people…boy.

10. “You guys look so alike! Are you guys related?”

The infamous sibling line. You’re so funny Ms. Claudette, you say this to us every year.

11. Having someone who is on your side no matter what.

Despite sharing all of your secrets, your sibling is more likely to defend you than go against you.

12. Your sibling always pisses you off but you love them anyway.

I guess because we have to get along isn’t it?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
