The week has come yet again. Many sleepless, stressful nights of studying for your finals. If you're lucky you maybe get one or two finals on the same day, or maybe you have one final every day for three days, or if you're like me and you have three on the same day; you just might die. There's a reason why it's called "dead week" because the campus literally slows down. Most students go to the Bizzell Library to do homework or go to the Great Reading Room for those who like to be in a quiet studying environment. Some go to the student union and can tolerate a little noise or someone who is super talented playing one of the pianos and have background noise. Some people hammock outside on the south oval. Me? I just float around from place to place and try out new studying places. Dead week is a review week but it's not an easy week either. I feel like 'The Office' can sum up this experience pretty well.

When your professor says the test is cumulative.

When you look at everything you have to get done in the week and you think it's impossible.

When you're reviewing in your class and the professor asks you a question and you get it right.

When you have a study group and one person gives up; you all start giving up.

When you'd much rather be watching Netflix than studying.

When you show up on campus and there are therapy dogs everywhere. It's just a precaution for the horror of finals week that's about to come.

When you get in the zone and you put all of your electronics down and you're in a super focused state and then check your phone to see what time it is and notice that it's 4 AM.

When you eat whatever you want because it's comfort food.

When you see the first question on the practice test and you have no idea what's going on.

When your professor tells you that there will be a written portion on the exam.

When you finally have had enough and you run away from your problems.

When eventually you come back because you realize how important it is to study for your finals.

When somehow your final in one class is worth 200 points and all of your other finals are only worth 100.

When dead week ends and finals week begins.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
