Everyone Should De-Stress Before Bed, And Here's How To Do It
Sarah Richman

Life is hectic, we are constantly running around doing work and stressing about things so much that even finding time for a decent meal can be hard. I think everyone should find a routine before bed in order to de-stress. Pick something that relaxes you, whether it's listening to music or reading book or anything in between.

Here are some relaxing activities that you can do in order to relax before bed:

1. Painting

I recently went to Michaels and bought some cheap paints, 3 paintbrushes and a canvas. I am horrible at art but I did it and it was beyond relaxing. I ended up painting for an hour and feeling so satisfied before bed.

2. Coloring

Even if it’s on a blank sheet of paper. Anything to take your mind off EVERYTHING is a good thing.

3. Writing

Writing or journaling can also be very satisfying, you can get all the thoughts out of your head and onto a sheet of paper and let them go before bed.

4. A hot shower or bath

Preferably to music, relaxing music especially. Some of my current favorite songs for calming down are:

-Strawberry Swing, Coldplay

-Pumping Blood the Acoustic version, NONONO

-Cherry Wine, Hozier

-You Are Gold, the national parks

-So Much More Than This, Grace VanderWaal (honestly any of her songs)

-Sailing Away, Avec

5. Self-care and treat yourself!

Use a face mask, your favorite smelling lotion, put on fuzzy socks, have some tea.

6. Read

Something enjoyable obviously. We are always reading textbooks, articles, whatever. But find a book that you can get lost in. Or even a book you’ve gotten lost in before, read it again.

7. Netflix

Duh. This one most people do on their own but treat yourself to your favorite movie or start a new show. I recently started “this is us” and I am in love.

8. Night time snacks

Bananas and peanut butter is always a good one.

These stress-less nights are something to look forward to. They can keep you motivated throughout the day or even through the week. Personally, I can't keep a strict pre-bed routine. I'm just simply not that structured but I do love to make Sunday night my time to relax. If you can find a way to have a routine, something that makes you happy and calm, then definitely do it!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
