Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house
The thought of more turkey left a bad taste in our mouth
Wrapping paper was strewn on the living room floor
All that’s left of the presents from the long day before
The parents were laying hungover in bed
While visions of spiked eggnog swam through their head
The children were playing with all their new toys
That santa had left for the good girls and boys
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
That dad stumbled from bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window he shuffled his feet
Opened the window so out he could peek
The sun on the banks of the new fallen snow
Made him squint at the scene as he peered down below
And what to his hungover eyes did appear?
But a group of young children that did not live there!
They played and they shouted, they caused quite the ruckus
When dad told them to be quiet, they replied with a “SUCK IT!”
So he drew in his head and was turning around
When a snowball shot through the window and splattered on the ground
Now he was mostly a kind man, not angry or mean
But these children had woken him up from his dreams
With all of the eggnog and turkey he ate
He was stuff too full of food to feel anything but hate!
So he leapt down the stairs going two at a time
Hangover forgotten in his mad state of mind
He burst in his son’s room and caused quite a scare
“SON, WHERE’S YOUR NEW BAT?!”
“Dad, it’s right there!”
Grabbing the slugger from it’s place on the floor
He turned on his heel and ran out the door
Still in his pjs, no shoes on his feet
He ran through the snow and out into the street
The children stopped playing and scattered in fear
“IF I SEE YOU AGAIN YOU WON’T SEE THE NEW YEAR!”
Mission accomplished he went back to bed
Where his wife was still resting (she slept like the dead)
Now the lesson learned here isn’t one to be missed
Once Christmas is over, there’s no “naughty list”
But before you go thinking that you got off scott free
Remember this story, cause it happened to me!
