Dating in today's world is like shopping in a candy store and picking out which candy you think will taste best. Except there is no such thing as the perfect candy. At least candy tastes good and won't give you a headache like dating does.
Dating today is a real struggle. We have come to the point where we need dating apps like Tinder and Plenty of Fish to choose a person we want. It may not even be a valid way of dating. You can look at a person and swipe whichever way you want depending on how they look and what little bit of information they give you. It does work sometimes I must admit, but there are only a few good ones out there.
It is also the hook-up generation. No one wants to date anymore. Listen, I know sex is important but what happened to actually getting to know someone on a few dates before the sex part?
Don't even get me started on cheating these days. Does honesty even exist anymore? If he/she wants to leave that person, then he/she should leave the person before cheating.
Speaking of honesty, there are all these mind games, and this is a big thanks to social media. Apparently, if you don't follow the person you are seeing on Instagram you are not interested. Also, ghosting has become a huge game as well. The person just disappears and falls off the planet. At least if you don't like me, just have the balls to tell me instead of having me wonder what I did wrong to make you not want to see me anymore.
The slang people use these days to pick up others is very interesting. Don't get me wrong being called a "Hottie" is flattering but it sounds like you are just looking at me like a piece of meat. Girls, on the other hand, can be such a tease to guys I admit; they can lead them on until they find someone else to fool around with. I have done that without even realizing it.
I have never had a serious relationship and it scares me. My first boyfriend lasted a week and it was horrendous. I am not sure what I was thinking. Besides the point, I realized that I need to take my time with dating because, in today's world, dating has become a fricken mind-game.
Hopefully I don't end up single forever. Let the games begin.
