Sometimes when you can't sleep and you are still up at almost 1 o'clock in the morning you start to think. Lots of people have asked why I dance or why I still go back home and dance at the studio that I have danced at for the past seven years. I would just like to clarify, dance has no age - you can be 2 years old or 92 years old and still dance, and with all the crazy changes that have happened recently with me going to college and all, I feel that dance has been my anchor so to speak.
Dance, for me, has become an outlet to express my emotions; it is a release for me. In regards to dancing at the same studio that I have for the past five years, I feel that the people in that studio accept me for who I am. Simply put, when I am dancing, I forget about my disability and all the challenges that I face daily. Dance isn't just my hobby, it's my passion. Finally, I am so grateful to my parents for supporting me in dance and giving me the opportunity to do something that I love. So, in essence, I just wanted to put this out there to clarify the answers to some of the questions that some of you may have. I don't mean to use my writing platform as a sounding board, but I feel like this is something that is important to me and something that I should share with you all.
Most importantly, I would like to emphasize the fact that dance doesn't have an age limit. And in fact, not only is dance a great form of exercise, but it also can improve emotional and mental health. You can be 2 years old or 95 years old and still receive the same benefits from dancing. In addition, once you initially develop a passion for dance, you have that passion for basically forever.
