I always see posts on Instagram or Twitter commending guys for their "dad bods." There have even been a great number of articles written on Odyssey about how girls prefer dad bods over fit guys. Personally, I don't understand the whole dad bod attraction but I do know one thing.
If you have a dad bod, good for you, but don't you dare tell any girls that they need to be fit in order to be your girlfriend.
Guys today expect girls to look like Instagram fitness models while they're out here looking like Shrek, beer gut and all. Talk about one hell of a double standard.
While I am by no means judging the dad bod, I am telling you that it's a load of crap if you shame a girl for not being stick thin. If dad bods are "so attractive" to girls, maybe mom bods should start being a thing guys are attracted to. Don't like that? Then maybe YOU should be the one hitting the gym.
Not every girl you meet is going to be in the best shape of her life, especially college-age girls. Get over it. We study, we work, we eat like crap sometimes, we can be lazy and choose to binge some Netflix instead of picking up some weights. Why is it ok that you can do that but if we do, we're "fat" and "lazy?"
Girls, if a guy who looks like the 21 Jump Street version of Jonah Hill tells you that he'd be into you if you were thinner, do me a favor and tell him to shove it. Even better, tell him that YOU'D be into him if he had the body of Zac Efron. Guys can have body issues too, but masking them by telling a gorgeous girl that she needs to lose weight herself is not the way to deal.
If you're attracted to thinner people, cool, but don't be the hypocrite who tells a girl to be thinner. Many of us are already insecure enough about our bodies without Jake from Zeta Beta Lasagna who chugs beer like it's going out of style telling us we need to hit the gym. Sorry, not sorry.
