8 Cute Summer Reads For Those Rainy Days

Just about everyone has the same opinion about April: It's pretty boring. Most of the time it's raining constantly, and when it isn't raining, it's too cold to do anything interesting outdoors. Most of April is spent inside watching TV, doing homework, sleeping, or reading. When you're craving a cute, summery Young Adult contemporary that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside, look no further than these eight books.

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss is an adorable story set in the city of love itself, Paris. Stephanie Perkins take you on a whirlwind adventure through the city with Anna and Étienne, and as you see their stories progress, you're only left wanting more when its over.

2. To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a much deeper story than most people believe. Though it does have its classic high school drama plot, it also deals with what happens after you grow apart from you friends or family, and how you can cope without a loved one in your life. This book is one you just fly through, which is lucky since the second one (P.S. I Still Love You) has already been released, and the third (Always and Forever, Lara Jean) was released on April 4, 2017.

3. Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

Though the second book was rated quite poorly, Girl Online is a lighthearted, sweet tale that is simple to get through. The story revolves around Penny and her secret blog that is actually going viral, through his blog she can talk about everything going on in her life, like dealing with her anxiety and meeting famous musician Noah. Even with a cliche plot, Girl Online is sweet and genuine in its own ways.

4. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

All of Rainbow Rowell's books can give you that fuzzy feeling inside; however,Fangirlreflects every reader in its own way. Cath adores Simon Snow and Baz, two characters from her favorite book series, but when a boy gets in the way of her writing, she has to choose between the two.

5. My Life With the Walter Boys by Ali Novak

My Life with the Walter Boys is a funny, crazy adventure about a girl being forced to live with 12 boys as her makeshift siblings. With each boy having a unique and equally insane personality, My Life With the Walter Boys amplifies the power of family and friendship.

6. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

Though Finding Audrey can be extremely serious at times like dealing with issues such as social anxiety, it is one of the funniest YA contemporaries out there. Sophie Kinsella masterfully weaves humor and a serious topic along with Audrey and Linus's relationship to give you a whole new view on the world.

7. Confess by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover is simply one of the best contemporary writers; her writing is artistic, heartfelt, and beautiful, and she has a power to tug on your heartstrings unlike anyone else. Confess follows Auburn Reed and her child as she meets a handsome boy from her past in an art studio in Dallas, Texas. The romance is perfectly tied with Auburn's struggle to get custody over her child, a battle that to most divorcees is quite familiar.

8. The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

The Sun is also a Star has become one of the most critically acclaimed Young Adult novels over the past few months. The story dispenses the concept of building love over time right out the window, as the book takes place over one day. The story depicts the journey of Daniel and Natasha, who are nearly complete opposites. This book redefines what it means to be in love, and it will surely create a new generation of YA contemporaries over the next years.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
