Let's face it. Spring break is one of the most fun weeks of the year, but it's also a time when things can get a little crazy and there's nothing worse than waking up after a night of crazy and feeling like absolute crap. Although most people have their own ways to make themselves feel better, there are others who are still figuring it out. So, I thought that I would lend a hand.
Drink water.
Everyone knows this, right? It seriously works. Drink as much water as you possibly can right before bed (I usually force myself to drink at least one full water bottle) and you'll feel significantly better in the morning. A lot of hangover symptoms are due to you just being really dehydrated, so drinking as much water as you can works wonders. For me, personally, it's even more important that I drink water at night because my stomach is too upset in the morning to handle it.
Get lots of sleep.
This is another obvious one. You'll feel better the longer that you sleep off your night, since this will give your body more time to process all of the junk that you just put into it. Unfortunately, many people tend to wake up early after a night out, but do your best to sleep more!
Drink more water.
As soon as you wake up, try to drink more water. Your body may hate you for it at the time (see my comments about my stomach in the last water section), but it will love you in the long run. You need that hydration!
Take some Advil.
If you're the person who gets the headache-type of hangover, make sure to take some Advil or another painkiller when you wake up. This will make everything about your day significantly easier to bear.
Replenish your body.
If possible, drink something like Gatorade. I always feel a little shaky after a night out and it's usually just because my body has so little in it in terms of nutrients other than sugar. The electrolytes and everything else that are in Gatorade work wonders.
Eat something greasy.
For some reason, greasy food tends to cure all ills when dealing with hangovers. If you wake up early enough for breakfast, make yourself some cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, and lots of buttered toast. If it's lunch time, find something along the lines of a burger to give you your fill of restorative grease.
Drink some tea or coffee.
This may be a me thing, but hot tea always seems to help fix my upset stomach during the morning after. If you're more of a coffee person, go in that direction to get you caffeinated and ready for the day.
If possible, drink a beer.
Honestly, nothing cures a hangover like more alcohol. Drink a beer or get fancy and make yourself a Bloody Mary or a mimosa. It sounds like the last thing that you'd ever want to do, but it helps.
Feel better!
