Traveling as a vegan

Cross Country Road Trip

In seven days I am leaving for a three week road trip. I am starting in Boston, Massachusetts and driving all the way across the country back to Los Angeles, California. The band Boys like Girls is going on tour for their 10 year anniversary of their first album. I will be attending a concert almost every night in a different state for those three weeks.

I have not been to most of these states before so it is good to look at restaurants near the venues and hotels for vegan food. You can get a salad and fries at almost any restaurant or fast food place.

If you are a vegan or even vegetarian, don't be afraid to ask a few questions about their food options! Make sure they know you don't eat meat (nor dairy products: many people are lactose intolerant). Some restaurants will put butter on bread and lard in beans. Good news, black beans are almost always vegan. Even when ordering hummus, don't forget to ask for plain bread without butted.

I have gotten hummus numerous time at restaurants near me in LA and even around the east coast. But once I ordered a side of hummus at a cafe in Ireland and was very disappointed to see butter on the bread. By the way, butter is not vegetarian. It is made with animal fat. You can always substitute meat for beans or rice on a burrito, taco and just about anything at the restaurant you chose.

When going to a new place, I also like to look online for vegan options around the city. Once you find a restaurant that you want to try, look at the menu online to check the ingredients and see what vegan or meatless meals they have. Don't be scared to try something new!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
