On September 16th, the Foster Auditorium on the University of Alabama campus held the second day of the Crimson White volleyball tournament. The Troy Trojans traveled nearly three hours North to compete in this tournament and despite having scored the first point in the first and second sets of the match, the Trojans fell at a loss of 3-0. Ginger Perinar, a sophomore at the University of Alabama, had five kills in the first set alone and with the help of senior Leah Lawrence on blocks, the set score was 25-15; a ten point lead.
The second set started off uneasily with the first two points being missed serves on the Trojan and Crimson Tide sides. However, freshman Christine Jarman had five kills which gave Alabama the lead, one of which, was the set point when she hit from the right side across the court to the back row left side. In this set, Jarman also had the first serve streak of the game with three consecutive serves. The final score for this set was 25-14, Alabama keeping at least 10 points ahead of Troy.
The first point of the third set went to Alabama on the account that the Trojans hit the ball out-of-bounds. With an ace and tip from the outside by number 12, sophomore Ashley Homan, The Crimson Tide allowed the Trojans to get 22 points in this set by passing errors and a slight lack of effort. Despite said errors and slight lack of effort, the Crimson Tide came out on top with a 25-22 win. Alabama won all three sets and turned a seven-game winning streak into an eight-game winning streak.
