It is not enough just to be. Do something with it.

The Credit For Being Alive

Everybody dies. Sorry, did that hurt your feelings? I really do not care. It's a fact. It's the truth. At one point, a heart stops beating and moves on to something else or nothing else. We really do not know. But I am not here to talk about death. I am not here to discuss the great beyond or the lack thereof depending on your beliefs. I'm here to talk about what happens before death and after birth.

I want to talk about living. I'm here to depict the difference between living and just being alive.

There is a high regard we give ourselves for being alive. We seem to think that simply "being" is something amazing. "Being" is so simple though. Alive is so scientific because all living creatures are alive. See how those two words sound alike? It's pretty simple. Being alive is simple, as well. It should not be placed on a pedestal, and it should not even be compared to truly living.

Being alive is going to school every day, going to your job, trying to get good grades, get that raise, bring your kids up the same way you were brought up so they could repeat, and let the cycle keep spinning. Nature did not craft the wheel. We, as beings, did. To be completely honest, we made being alive boring! Really, it's dull. And for some reason, there is a credit for being alive. What, are we getting graded on how well be run on the hamster wheel? If we die os boredom while running do we get points deducted? We are living in a world of numbers, and set morals, and set standards, and being alive is how we stay in these walls.

In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace said "every man dies. Not every man lives." There is something meant for us outside the lives so many people have already replayed. Truly living is a rebellion, like the one Wallace caused in the film. We deserve to be free. Making choices for ourselves is our God (or no God) given right and we cannot miss our chance ever damn generation.

There is a credit in living! You wanna know what living is? You want me to to tell you? You wanna know the secret? To be honest, I cannot tell you. I can explain to you on thing though.

Go out and do it! Live!

Living is getting lost in the city or the woods because you wanted to. Living is deciding to go to Europe not for a study abroad trip but because you wanted to. Living is trying to become a national bestseller when everyone tells you that you cannot. Living is falling into extremely deep and messy love only to get your heart broken, but when you get up, you do it again because why not?

Why not? That's the motto of living. When anyone asks you why you stray, just say "why not?" It's an easy phrase that pack a punch. Or how about you say "why not now?" We die at one point, right? Now or never. Go and do something that you can look back on and smirk at. Go do something stupid. Go do something inspiring. Break the wheel. Unleash hell. Scream off a cliff because you can.

Let the world envelope you instead of you just walking on the world.

Living is better than just being alive. There is meaning in living. There is individualism in living. There is infinity after death in living. That is the prize. That is the credit you receive. So go out and don't just be. Do.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
