Apple recently released IOS14 and since then the internet has been flooded with pictures of everyone's home screens. For a lot of people, it has been really overwhelming trying to figure out this new update and how to get those photo-worthy home screens. After watching several Tik Toks and working on my own, I have come up with several simple steps to share with you all to help you get the cutest home screen.
1. Decide on a theme
The first step to creating an aesthetically pleasing home screen is to decide on a theme. There are a ton of different options you can do so pick anyone that you enjoy. Some examples I have seen are colors, travel, Disney or even favorite tv shows/movies. For my home screen, I went with a neutral color theme. You totally don't need a theme if you don't want one but overall it helps make it more uniform.
2. Pick out any photos you want to use
Now that you've decided on a theme, you need to select the items that match this theme. So take some time to scroll Pinterest and find everything you want to use. For me, this included finding a wallpaper, a few quotes and pictures I wanted to use.
3. Download the apps you want to use
Now that you have everything picked out and ready to go, you just need to download the apps you need. There are a ton of different widget apps you can download and use in the app store. For ease, I only used Widgetsmith and Todoist. Another popular widget app is Colorwidget. Honestly, it doesn't matter which one you use so pick whichever app you prefer.
4. Start creating your widgets
After all your prepping, it is finally time to start designing your home screen. The process of adding a widget is relatively simple after you've completed those steps. You start by opening up the app you've downloaded for widgets. Once you've done that click on the one you like and start adjusting it through the app. When I used Widgetsmith, I was able to change, colors, fonts, and size. If you want your widget to be a photo from your library, all you have to do is create an album in your photos with the selected photo and then select "photos in album" in the Widgetsmith app. For a little fun, you can add more than one photo in the album to have it randomly change throughout the day.
5. Add the widgets to your home screenÂ
You're almost done now. It's just time to add your newly created widgets to your home screen. To do this, just hold down on your screen then select the plus sign in the top left corner. Once you've done that, just scroll down until you see the widget app you used. Go ahead and click on it. After you've done that you need to select the size that you had designed in the app. It'll add one of these widgets to the home screen. If you have more than one in that size, you'll have to click on it to select the one you wanted. Widgets can also be created using other apps on your phone. So if you want to add one for your music or news, you can do that the same way. I loved using Todoist to create a to-do list widget.
