So, I had this dream a couple months ago. Long story, short:
My family, my roommates, and my friends went on vacation to Louisiana. And when I say Louisiana, I mean the deep bayou of southern Louisiana to a shifty-looking motel. My parents dropped us off and went away to an antique convention in a neighboring town.
One of my brothers proceeded to get drunk off his horse and get kidnapped by an even shiftier-looking old lady and her son, who then chased all seven of us kiddos after the rest of us rescued him in a very Scooby Doo-esque scene.
Now, I'm not one to assume all my dreams mean something crucial about my life. However, as I have a terrible sleep schedule, the fact that I mildly remembered this dream after I woke up was surprising on its own. This dream was one of the most vivid I've had in a very long time, so I have to wonder if my subconscious was trying to tell me something.
So, like all young-uns with Wi-Fi, I took to the internet, and Dream Moods.com had much to say about my dream and my subconscious. Here are the highlights.
1. Dreaming about family . . .
Dreaming about one's own family can represent security and love. If a particular family member doesn't act like they normally do, the dream could be indicating that the person having the dream doesn't understand the real-life actions of that family member.
Now, my brother isn't really an alcoholic, so possibly I need to reevaluate what he's doing and how I'm reacting.
2. Dreaming about vacation. . .
A person dreaming about a vacation, particularly a vacation that goes badly, could possibly mean that person is unable to handle their everyday responsibilities and having a hard time dealing with their current issues.
Well, if this doesn't sound like every day of my college life, I don't know what does.
3. Dreaming about Louisiana. . .
If someone dreams about Louisiana, particularly if that person has never been to Louisiana, it either means that person is either secretive or need some excitement in their life.
Both are admittedly true for me, but since I feel like I like my weird schedule, I'm not sure what my brain is trying to tell me here.
4. Dreaming about Kidnapping. . .
If a person dreams that another person is kidnapped, it could mean that the kidnapped person has qualities that the dreaming person is suppressing.
Again with my brother. What the heck is he doing that is making my subconscious freak out?
5. Dreaming about Chasing. . .
Chase dreams are one of the more common dreams and usually indicate anxiety in the dreaming person. These dreams can mean avoidance of real-life issues, close-mindedness toward real-life issues, and/or rejection of certain personality characteristics in oneself.
Well. . .check. . .check. . .and check.
In conclusion. . .
Well, I had no idea I had such a problem with my brother. We must sit down and have lunch, because my subconscious is obviously all in a kerfuffle over something between us.
However, I had this dream a few months ago, right before finals. So, my brain believing that it is riddled with anxiety, can't handle everyday responsibilities, and really needs a break is definitely something I already knew consciously and didn't need a dream to tell me.
Ultimately, dream interpretation is a fun activity once and a while; however, it's probably something I won't do often, as it is time-consuming and can lead to confusing and/or obvious results.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I must schedule that bro-lunch.
