December, I have missed you old friend. December is my favorite month, could be because it’s my birth month.

The last month of the year is filled with joy, but it is also cold and stressful. The temperature is freezing, there are finals to get through, and you have to find the perfect gifts for loved ones. You need some time to relax.

Chill out with these cozy essentials for the chilly month of December. It might be freezing outside, but inside you’ll stay warm with heated blankets and fuzzy socks.

1. Heated blanket

The maximum level of cozy in minutes. A heated blanket is the best of the best.

2. Slippers

You’ll never find me in my house without these on. I would wear slippers 24/7 if I could.

3. Fleece pajamas

SO soft. You can always find some cute holiday ones, and they make great gifts.

4. Candles

The warmth of the candlelight and the cozy smells. I always love Bath & Body Works Fresh Balsam candle. Smells just like a freshly cut Christmas tree!

5. Twinkle lights

These make your room feel like Christmas all the time. They always add a cozy glow and get you in a happy mood.

6. Pillows

There’s always room for more pillows. The more the merrier!

7. A fluffy rug

These can be used for the unlikely times that your slippers come off. They are especially nice if you have hardwood floors.

8. Fuzzy Socks

The shea infused ones, WOW. So cushy and soft. You can always find cute patterned ones.

9. Hot coffee or tea

Feel the warmth and coziness. Pair it with your favorite book or movie for the best day ever.

10. A fireplace

The weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. A real fireplace is a key to get your living room feelin' like December.

11. A good book

A great addition to the fireplace. *See number 9 for more help to make books even better*

12. Winter playlist

Finally, cozy up with some chill playlists. Spotify has some great ones that relate to the holiday season.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
