Readers,
I would typically offer some poetic way in saying this but I feel speaking directly from the heart is best. The current COVID-19 epidemic has the world playing before us like a sci-fi movie script. There is no other way to describe it, and I never thought such a scenario would unfold before my eyes.
When news broke about the virus in the earlier stages of things, I took it to mean light precaution and thought it would remain with only a few cases. However, more people began to contract it, and soon, people started to die from it.
If you're someone who still thinks the situation at hand isn't serious, I've got news for you: you're not helping anyone else around you.
There are people who have been told to not report to work. To some, this is no problem, but there are others who are not being paid. Their very source of income is taking a hit if state assistance is not an option, they simply don't qualify for it, or other various reasons.
Rumors of the virus initiating martial law as a response in some parts of the country have sparked preparation. The visible panic of what has occurred thus far is becoming more evident.
I am in no position to tell anyone how they should handle this, however, I urge you to look to making sure you are safe. This goes beyond hand-washing; I am referring to your mental and physical well-being. Look to your loved ones and rely on them as a source of strength during this time.
I, myself, am trying to remain calm by praying, meditating, and staying at home as much as possible. If you feel unsafe, it is your right to make that known to whomever necessary.
This is such a strange time, and I can feel the uncertainty in the air as each passing day becomes more and more confusing.
Be courteous to the elderly while you're shopping; some of them haven't had the chance to stock their homes as others have.
Be kind to one another. Be considerate of everyone.
We have enough on our plate as it is.
Stay safe.
Lovingly,
Jessica
