5 Thoughts On Every Student's Mind During Quarantine

1: Are We Even In Quarantine Anymore?

The state of emergency hasn't been lifted in many places and cases are still racking up by the day; but all the sudden your friends are asking you to go to the mall. Now you're caught in a real life trolley problem where you have to choose between risking the lives of those around you or risking another recession. It feels like you should still be isolating, but your peers are acting like everything's fine. Maybe you're overreacting? Who knows?

2: Your "Back In My Day" Stories Will Be The Stuff Of Legend!

Sure telling your grand children that you spent your days attending Zoom University in your pajamas doesn't sound quite as dramatic as grandpa's up hill both ways trek to school, but there was that harrowing week when toilet paper was scarce.

3: Tuition Is Way Too High.

For years students have been rightfully complaining about the ridiculous cost of a college education. However, these complaints are especially common and relevant now. Many schools have either maintained or raised tuition even though the vast majority of university students won't even set foot on campus. Literally what are they even doing with all that money? You should probably protest or take a semester off, but both those things would be a massive hassle.

4: What Happened To The Murder Hornets?

Was it all a hoax? Maybe you hallucinated all those articles. It's plausible, they do sound like something out of a fever dream or bad sci fi movie. Or maybe they're waiting for people to develop a false sense of security before they attack.

5: Mr Sandman Man Me A Sand!

You've been mostly alone for a long time now and it's probably starting to take a toll on you. As a result there's nonsense swirling around in your brain 24/7, it could be the lyrics to an ancient meme, it could be a vine quote, or a popular Tik Tok sound, it doesn't really matter. These days the only thing more prevalent than COVID-19 is Dumb B*tch Disease. As each day passes it's getting harder and harder for you to access your smart people words rbjihbgiqghpqgfn vjfj3fj ffbeijf f4jpewfnq;ffa................/jj

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
