What holding a "Trump Isn't My President" sign is doing to our Country

On January 20, 2017, Mr. Donald John Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Although normally this day is celebrated with happiness and celebration, Donald Trump's day of glory was overshadowed by the liberal media and various deadly protests occurring around the country.

Let's define a protest for a second. Protest is defined by the Merriam Dictionary as "a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something." So to technically define what was happening all over the country, and world for that matter, is in small a protest. Now let's look a bit deeper into this concept. Protests over political outcomes have been documented since about J.F.K. and his death. What one might slightly find interesting is that all political protests from then until now have been peaceful and monitored. What has occurred in the past weeks has been far from monitored, and even further from peaceful. Thousands of buildings, stores, homes, streets, etc. have been destroyed in this so called "protesting". Quite honestly I do not understand the point. What does destroying a Starbucks window have with your so-called "hatred" of our new President? What does that even have to do with it all? You're destroying property. You're destroying lives. You're destroying things that took millions of your own dollars, assuming you pay taxes and/or have a job, to build. Other than causing a mess, being dramatic, and creating unnecessary havoc, what's your point? Is your point so that you can walk around, holding a sign saying that "Trump isn't your President" because he is. If you're living within the United States or any of the lands controlled by us, Trump is in fact your President. Also if you would like to argue that my text is bias and from some conservative news source, this is where all my information from the above paragraph is sourced to, New York Times.

Abraham Lincoln delivered a speech before his presidency where he informed the crowd of a few words that have stuck in the hearts of every American since. Abraham Lincoln said that "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Our nation today is divided. Some may even argue that our nation has been divided since before this dilemma of a transition of Presidents. But as we continue at this pace, our nation continually divides itself. The divorcing of the country into two halves isn't helping America or what America is supposed to stand for. Either way you view this issue, and either way you view our President, our country is on the verge of collapsing if we do not continue to do our parts as citizens of the United States.

Protests or not, I hope we can find the middle ground to tape this dividing nation back into one. God Bless.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
