Costumes To Avoid This Halloweekend

It's that time of year when it’s pumpkin flavor EVERYTHING, pics with #sweaterweather, and those DIY costumes that you think are original, but the idea couldn’t be more cliché.  Halloween is supposed to be the time of year where you dress up to be funny or scary, but over the years it has just turned into an excuse for girls to wear skimpy outfits during a freezing cold night.  We see the SAME costumes every Halloween weekend in girls’ attempts to be cute and sassy, but this epidemic of unoriginal, outplayed costumes need to stop!

The Cat Costume: Yeah you guessed it, the kitty costume.  Even I admit to being guilty of putting cat ears on my head before a last minute costume party.  To the girls who think they are avoiding this look by using leopard print ears, you are still considered a cat.  Real original, Vanessa Hudgens.

Risky Business: Wearing an oversized button up, underwear and socks isn’t the best idea on a cold night.  We know the thoughts running through your mind were simple, comfy, and “I look like I’m not trying too hard”, but we’ve all seen this one way too many times.

Sexy Occupation:

Whether you’re a sexy cop, fire fighter, or nurse, we all know your costume is way too tight, you bought it for way too much, and your trying way to hard to be sexy.  If the title of your costume is “sexy, naughty or slutty” anything please just steer away. Not even Paulina Gretzky can get away with this one.

Miley Cyrus: Please put down your foam finger and put away your tongue.  That is all. Even you, Paris Hilton.

Duct Taped: For all the poor college freshman that get together and duct tape a dress on, and decide that they are condiments, crayons, or some type of inanimate object, you just look cold, uncomfortable and we all wonder how you pee.

Angel/Devil:  This had been done over and over and over for years. Please think of a different dynamic duo you and your BFF can be that makes people think you put little thought into it.

Halloween costumes should be fun, creative and unique.  Stand out in the crowd! Don’t be just 1 of 6 sexy kitty’s at the party!  Think of characters from your favorite TV show or movie, think of something that hasn’t be done over and over again.  Choose an outfit that you can actually walk in and can avoid hypothermia in.  Create something original and enter a costume contest that will make this Halloween not so typical!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
