As I said on my Instagram story a few weeks ago, I've been living more and posting less. That hasn't stopped me from pondering though. Today's pondering go into the department of confidence.
I know this, but revisited the concept that "confidence is everything". This topic came to mind because I was thinking about the past. May 2012 to be exact. It was a time when I was still finding myself and what I was into. I was just getting into Starz' 1978 album, "Coliseum Rock" and it was unlike anything I had ever listened to. Regina Spektor's 2012 album, "What We Saw From The Cheap Seats" was also out, and I remember listening to it, but never being fully into it because I wasn't into "slower" music. One day, I heard both Coliseum Rock and What We Saw From The Cheap Seats and I realized that I didn't have to define myself to one genre. I could listen to anything I wanted. I became more open minded, and I went with this growth and now my musical horizons pan from Starz to Regina Spektor to Wild Cherry to N.E.R.D. to name just a few artists.
Now, after my biopic moment, you ask, how does this connect? Well, true confidence comes through not defining yourself to be one thing. You can be many. When you are confident, you can find and explore all these parts of yourself without fear of criticism. More often than not, those who criticize those who are themselves, have insecurities of their own and can't accept that someone is their truest self.
With that, be yourself. People will judge, but you got their attention, so it's proof you're doing something right. You stand out. Another thing I've learned, people are going to pass judgment no matter what, whether that be positive or negative, so don't worry about what they say. Only your opinion truly matters.
Stay true to yourself. Be rad and stay groovy.
