The Confessions of a Fat Skinny Girl

We all know "that girl" who is the size of a twig, but can consume copious amounts of food. That same girl can eat all day long and not gain a pound. I am that girl.

"There's no way you're going to eat all of that"

If you think that I am going to struggle eating an entire 12 oz. steak, a loaded baked potato and a bowl of corn you are so wrong. I will devour it all before you can even finish salting your grilled chicken breast. Don't doubt me.

"Are you sure your eyes aren't bigger than your stomach?"

First off, that doesn't make any sense. Second off, if my eyes were bigger than my stomach, I would be in a world of hurt. Do you know how hard it would be to fit a dozen doughnuts in my eyeball?

'

"How do you eat so much but never gain any weight?"

If I knew the formula for why and how I don't gain weight, I would be the richest woman on Earth. But, since I have absolutely no idea, I'm just going to forget that you asked me and eat another cheeseburger.

"I wish I was that skinny."

And I wish that I could eat chocolate covered bacon for breakfast and not be judged for it. It's the way God made me. If God made you thick, then thank him for your curves! There are many more factors to life than our bodies, ladies. Take our eyebrows, for example.

"Do you workout?"

Yes, I do. I work out my jaw and my fork lifting hand. On a serious note, I do cardio almost every day, but I don't necessarily do it to be skinny or stay skinny (refer to the gif below). No one wants to look like a new born baby deer in stilettos.

"What size jeans do you wear? Like a two?"

Multiply your guess by four, and you're almost there. Just because I don't have much meat on my bones doesn't mean that I'm lacking in the hip and a** area. I'm just as much of a woman as anyone else regardless of my BMI.

"You're metabolism must be so high!"

*Calculating...* I actually have no idea. I go about my day eating whatever I want and my body stays the same. If I wanted to do a bunch of math to figure out why my body does what it does, I would. But, I only have about five minutes of free time a day which is just enough time to eat a can of Spaghetti-o's.

Being the "fat skinny kid" in a world full of people who are crazed by body image is hard. We are constantly asked questions that we don't know the answers to, and we have to explain ourselves a lot (between snacks that is).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
