With summer jobs and internships in full swing, there is no better way to unwind than by going out to a concert. Whether it is your all-time favorite band or some up-and-comer that you haven’t heard much about, concerts are a great time. The summertime is perfect for concerts. With a little extra free time and summer pay checks to foot the ticket prices, summer is the optimal time to head out and enjoy some music with friends. So, if you are hanging out in Charlottesville this summer - or you are looking for an excuse for a road trip - check out these concerts:
1. Radney Foster
On Friday, July 7th, WSIG 96.9 is bringing “An Evening with Radney Foster” to the Southern Café and Music Hall. The doors will open at 6:00 PM and the show will begin at 8:00 PM.
2. Mark Roebuck CD Release Party
The Southern Café and Music Hall will be hosting Mark Roebuck’s CD release party on July 9th. The doors will open at 6:00 PM and the show begins at 8:00. Mark Roebuck will be joined by special guest Michael Coleman.
3. David Bazan
David Bazan, accompanied by Laura Gibson, will be playing at the Southern Café and Music hall on July 10th. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the show will start at 8:30 PM.
4. Steve Gunn & The Outliners
On Monday, July 11th, Steve Gunn & The Outliners will be accompanied by Spacin’ at the Southern Café and Music Hall. Show starts at 9:00 PM and doors open at 7:00 PM.
5. Jackass Flats and Gallatin Canyon
Joined by J.J. Von Briesen, Jackass Flats and Gallatin Canyon will play at the Southern Café and Music Hall on July 15th. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM.
6. We Are Star Children
On Friday, July 15, the Jefferson Theater will host the local band We Are Star Children. The doors will open at 7:00 PM and the show will begin at 8:00 PM
7. Rumours- A Fleetwood Mac Tribute
If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, the band Rumours will be playing tributes on July 16th at the Jefferson Theater. The doors open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM.
8. Sonny & The Sunsets
Accompanied by New Boss and White Laces, Sonny & The Sunsets will play the Southern Café and Music Hall on July 16th. The show will start at 9:00 PM and the doors will open at 7:00 PM.
9. Ryan Adams & The Shining
On Tuesday, July 19th, the Spring Pavilion will host Ryan Adams & The Shining. Doors 6:00 PM and the show will start at 7:00 PM.
10. Ray LaMontagne
On Wednesday, July 20th, Ray LaMontagne will be playing at the Spring Pavilion. Ray LaMontagne will be joined by Tommy Blankenship, Carl Broemel, Bo Koster, and Patrick Hallahan. Doors will open at 6:00 PM and the show starts at 7:00 PM.
11. James McMurtry
On Wednesday, July 20th, James McMurtry will play the Southern Café and Music Hall. Doors open at 8:00 PM and the show starts at 6:00 PM.
12 .EmiSunshine
Friday, July 22nd, the Southern Café and Music Hall will host EmiSunshine. Show starts at 8:00 PM and the doors open at 6:00 PM.
13. Lera Lynn
Lera Lynn featuring Andrew Combs will play the Southern Café and Music Hall on July 23rd starting at 9:00 PM and the doors will open at 7:00 PM.
14. Matthew Logan Vasquez
On July 28th, Delta Spirit’s Matthew Logan Vasquez will play the Southern Café and Music Hall and he will be accompanied by Derik Hultquist. The doors will open at 7:00 PM and the show will start at 9:00 PM.
15. Lawrence
Lawrence featuring Streets of Laredo will play the Southern Café and Music Hall on Friday, July 29th. Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the show will start at 9:00 PM.
16. Matisyahu
On Tuesday, August 30th, An Evening with Matisyahu is coming to the Jefferson Theater. The show will begin at 8:00 PM and the doors will open at 7:00 PM.
