Finally, award season is in full swing! And to kick off the new year we start out with the Golden Globes that broadcast on the January 7th.

Award season goes well into the fall but the majority of ceremonies happen in the winter.

If you are like me, your winter weekends will be filled with awards, celebrities, and red carpets. It’s the best time of year and I’m here to help you survive award season!

This guide is to help all award junkies know when, who, and what the award shows do. This list is listed in chronological order and get ready for the greatest time of the year!

1. Golden Globe Awards

When: Sunday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC

Who votes: Hollywood Foreign Press.

Nominees: You can find them here!

Host: Seth Meyers

What it awards: Achievements in film and television.

2. Critics’ Choice Awards

When: Thursday, Jan. 11 at 8/7c on The CW

Who votes: Members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.

Nominees: You can find them here!

Host: Olivia Munn

What it awards: Achievements in film and television.

3. Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG)

When: Sunday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on TBS and TNT

Who votes: Members of the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA.

Nominees: You can find them here!

Host: Kristen Bell

What it awards: Achievements in film and television.

4. The Grammys

When: Sunday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT on CBS

Who votes: The Recording Academy voting members.

Nominees: You can find them here!

Host: James Corden

What It awards: Achievements in music.

5. Academy Awards

When: Sunday, March 4 at 8 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. PT on ABC

Who votes: Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Nominees: Announced Tuesday, Jan. 23. But while we wait, here are predictions!

Host: Jimmy Kimmel

What it awards: Achievements in film.

6 months later….

6. Emmy Awards

When: Monday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. PT on NBC

Who votes: Members of the Television Academy.

Nominees: Announced Thursday, on July 12.

Host: N/A

What it awards: Achievements in television.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
