Congratulations! The time has almost come, you’re finishing up your last semester of High School and will be graduating soon. This time of year is emotional and crazy and there are some things I want to tell you, from a girl who was in your shoes a year ago.
1. Cherish each moment on stage.
I know what you’re thinking: “This is so cliché and I already do it,” but hear me out. You only get a few more moments on stage before you graduate, and even if you continue dancing in college, it won’t be the same. Treasure every second you have on stage dancing with your best friends, because once it’s gone you can’t get it back.
2. Dance every time like it’s the last time you’re going to dance in your life.
You never know when you will be done dancing, so make every dance count! If I had lived by this my senior year, then I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more, so do me a favor and start doing this right away.
3. Never stop thanking your dance teachers for what they’ve done for you.
Every chance you get, thank them for everything they’ve done for you. From teaching you how to dance, to the life lessons, to loving you, and everything in between, they have taught you it all.
4. Winning isn’t everything.
Coming from a girl who is extremely competitive, this one was hard for me to accept. Instead of going out there wanting to win and only win, go out there and put your best effort into the dance and you will come off stage a winner already.
Soon, this chapter of your life will come to a close and another one will open. Don’t forget the memories or friends you’ve made along the way. You’ll find yourself missing it at times, but you’ll always be a competitive dancer at heart.
