Sometimes we do not have the choice to stay on campus, whether it is for financial reasons or other personal reasons, some of us just have to commute to campus every day. Read on to feel not so alone in the commuter world.
1. You have to plan your classes around transit schedules
Every quarter I dread having to figure out if the classes I want to take correlate with a transit schedule. If you take a class that ends later than most bus and train schedules, you may have to take several buses to make it back home.
2. If you oversleep you are essentially screwed
Do I really need to say more? The only chances of making it to class on time is if you can teleport, which maybe you would learn how to do if you were in class that morning.
3. People always say they feel sorry for you but get mad when you can't attend many events on campus
It is nice having people who try to show some empathy and get that commuting is hard, but until they really had to commute for a whole quarter, they will continue to say, "Sorry," and then give you the saltiest facial expression ever.
4. College parties are sadly in the distant past
Yes, you will still get invited to frat parties weekly. But you are so tired from commuting all week that you would rather put on your PJs and sleep for 12 hours than go party on a fake beach while it's 30 degrees outside.
5. You are comfortable sleeping on a public bus, sorta
There comes a time in the quarter where you finally give in to taking a nap on the bus. No matter how uncomfortable and noisy the bus or train is, you are so exhausted that your body just gives in.
6. This last one is not a struggle, let's be real
You get to see your pets every night because unlike your dorm, your little chihuahua is allowed into your room.
