Communication Is A Necessity, But It Is A Dying Concept

Communication is something that is so vital to humanity, we practically need it to survive. Yet with the constant growth and impact of technology, communication can be harder and harder to successfully achieve. Especially when it comes to communicating in relationships, communication is a necessary factor.

Whether you are in a relationship or it's talking with your roommate, communication is so incredibly important across multiple aspects of life. Technology, unfortunately, has mostly hindered that role of communication. Because of such easy access, some so many people have trouble having true communication. There are many ways that I have seen that people are very uncomfortable talking on the phone. Prime example, I work in customer service and I can't tell you how many times, kids are there with their parents, but the parent is making the phone call because their kid doesn't know how to talk to someone on the phone. That is such a crazy concept to me because all it is is a phone call, but the amount of the younger generation who doesn't know how to do this simple thing just blows me away.

On top of all of that, being able to have good communication with your roommate is key. Being able to actually bring things up to each other and talk through it instead of just sitting on the things that annoy you until it finally explodes is an amazing thing. It will make for such a better experience all around if you are actually able to talk to each other. Sadly, I have experienced many times that that is just not the case. No one seems to want to talk and then they just complain about everything to someone else and the situation is never actually resolved.

Another great thing about good communication comes into play when you are in a relationship. Being able to communicate with your significant other is incredibly important, especially if that relationship is long distance. There will certainly be times where communication is all you have, so it becomes something that you have to get really good at.

Even with the negative impact of technology on actual communication, there are some benefits to it. Technology definitely helps with long-distance communication on all levels. It allows for those who are separated to easily access communication with one another. Technology allows aids with easier communication. It can sometimes be so nice to have such quick communication so readily available, but it can have its downsides.

With the rise in texting, communication has become easier, but also much more difficult. It may be easier to communicate, but that communication often gets misconstrued. There are so many things that can be taken the wrong way or misunderstood when it comes to texting and communication, that it can end up hindering the relationship. In the end, it is so important to make sure that you are truly communicating. So take the time to actually talk to the people you care about.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
