For those of you who know me, I am the ultimate family girl you will ever know and meet. Part of the reason why I chose to go to a university only 3 hours away from home, is so that I could drive home often. Many of my friends find this idea weird. In fact, many people I know have chosen a university very far away from home and find it unfathomable that I miss it so much. But when I'm at school and I spend two months away from home (sometimes even less), my heart shatters and my soul becomes homesick. I ultimately feel lonely and further away from my family than I actually am. These next four reasons are why being home fulfills me:
1. I have no worries.

Don't get me wrong, I love college - especially mine. And I most definitely love my major. But I would be lying if I told you it didn't weigh me down. Every semester takes a lot of energy out of me, while stress and anxiety run through my veins. However, when I am home, it is time for me to take off from all of my responsibilities that are predetermining my future. It's a nice break, to say the least.
2. I get mom’s cooking.

I don't know about you, but one of the things I miss the most when I am at school is my mom's food. For as long as I can remember, my mom has never failed to cook fresh and homemade meals for my brothers, dad, and me every night. My first year at college forced me to adjust to meal plans and fast foods, until my second year when I forced myself to learn to cook. But no meal of mine could ever satisfy me enough or replace my mom's. The way she seasons everything and how she always makes it all with love - it will forever be my favorite.
3. I have constant company.

I am an extrovert, and therefore, I am in constant need of company. It's just the way I am and have always been. A family of five isn't huge, but we are enough to keep each other entertained. No matter the time or day, and no matter what it is I choose to do, like watch a movie, eat a snack, write an article, or even sit outside, I always have someone there.
4. I get to see my best friend.
Unfortunately, since my best friend and I chose different universities, I only see her when I'm home. Therefore, when I am home, we take the time to spend together inseparably to account for all the time we spent apart. We catch each other up on all of our personal stories and drama, we console each other on our personal decisions about our careers, we reflect about life and the people we are and want to become, and we rely on each other for truths that no one else will give us. Let me be honest, I consider her more of a sister than a best friend today.
