Tomboy is published by Action Lab: Dangerzone. It is written by Mia Goodwin with art by Michelle Wong.

Tomboy is one of my favorite modern horror comics. It’s the story of a young girl, Addison, who becomes a vigilante after the murder of her best friend and boyfriend, Nick, by 2 corrupt police officers, working for a very bad, very powerful woman. She’s not a vigilante like Batman, though. Oh no. Addi kills those who are guilty. Wearing her cute cat mask and wielding a hockey stick. Addison is taking her revenge on everyone responsible for Nick’s death. Something is wrong with Addi though. You know, other than the fact that she’s going around murdering people. Addi sees Nick’s ghost, she sees Jessica’s ghost. She sees things that clearly a normal person wouldn’t see. And these things she sees guide her, they tell her what she needs to do. Is she crazy or are they real? Even Addison isn’t quite sure anymore.

WARNING: FROM HERE ON, THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ TOMBOY #1 – 8

We pick up with Addison in a room with dead bodies and a weird growing plant-thing. Mind you, we’ve seen this plant-like-thing before. It seems to be getting bigger. While Addison talks to ghost Jessica, she begins to understand that this is not Jessica, that Nick is not Nick, that Cherry Cherry isn’t the spiritual guide she claims to be. Ghost Jessica does give us a hint though, that something bigger is at work. Or maybe Addison is just crazy (I don’t think that’s the case). So, she seeks answers from Dr. Iris Jacoby, and the answer she gets is way more intricate and ancient than she could have ever imagined. And we finally learn what the plant thing is!

Pros: As per usual, this issue is spectacularly written and drawn. This series continues to blow me away with every issue. You think you’re starting to understand, but no, there’s still more story to unravel. Beautiful, creepy story. A whole new can of worms was just opened for Addison and that makes me super happy. I honestly thought that the series was going to start coming to a close, but the climax is just beginning. There are so many possibilities!

Cons: We got an extensive and cool answer, but even then there are a lot of pieces missing from the puzzle. I’m sure they will all come together after this big reveal, but in many ways it created more questions for me. Like, how does Addi get around so fast? Does she teleport? How do her powers work? Are her ghost friends real?

OVERALL SCORE: 9.5 / 10

I love this story.I loved this issue. If you haven’t been reading Tomboy, you need to catch up and then immediately read issue 9. Because it will blow your mind.

Happy reading!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
