Have you ever felt so comfortable that without knowing it, you’ve found yourself in a debilitating state of mind? As a culture, we often find ourselves comatose in our present! Indulging so much in the excellence of the present that we forget to shift our minds to what is next. Think about it?
We eat quality meals, and while doing so we stuff our mouths to the point that we say that we’re in a food coma, we sleep long hours to point that we say that we felt as if we were comatose.
We live in a culture of over-doing what feels good, and why not when we work so hard to achieve, right?
Wrong!
The good in our lives is to be fully enjoyed but never misconstrued as being something that it wasn’t intended to be. Something similar to an abrupt ending such as a dead zone or a street with no outlet. Growing up in church, I often heard the phrase “from faith to faith, from glory to glory,” meaning that the evolution in our lives serves great purpose, as it is ultimately transforming us into the individuals that we were destined to be.
When considering the various seasons of your life, you must keep in mind that it is dangerous to “overstay” your welcome. Life is extremely time-sensitive (as I’m sure many of you can attest to such truth), often times it feels as though certain facets of our lives come together both when we least expect it and need it the most! With this truth in the forefront, it’s pivotal that you not only trust that your steps are ordered, but that the greater joys of this lifetime are often found outside our space of comfort.
The doubts and fears that often take root into our hearts during our time of comfort are just weeds simply placed to soak up any drop of courage and hope that we may have. Tend to your garden (which is your spirit) and take close inventory of what emotions and thought you allow to settle into your soil.
“Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts!” -Proverbs 2:23 (MSG).
Tuck this verse in your heart, when assessing your growth and the process in which such occurs. Consider the transitions and evolution that has occurred in your life. The progression that was birthed out of discomfort, and once you’ve finished reminiscing think what would’ve happened if you never challenged yourself to move beyond what you saw? Where would you be, and more importantly who would you have become?
These reasons alone should be sufficient in times where it seems impossible to carry along!
