Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock knows that former FBI director Comey testified about Trump's connection to Russia in front of Congress this past week.
President Trump and James Comey have a troubled past- they have conflicting accounts of the same conversations and Trump fired him with a very cold and now viral letter. Comey was afraid of Trump which is evident in a video where he can be seen hiding in a curtain in the hopes that Trump would not see him.
According to Comey and other top intelligence agents, Trump reportedly told Comey several times to stop investigating Michael Flynn. Trump, however, denies these accusations.
A few weeks after Comey asked the government for more money for the Russia-Trump investigation, he was conveniently fired by Trump. The President fired him in order to give him less power and as he told some Russian officials to take pressure off him for the Russia investigation.
But Comey has debatably done more damage to Trump once he got fired. Since he no longer worked for the President and felt no need for loyalty or to keep his job, he spoke freely at his hearings, holding nothing back.
As a result,Trump is now in more trouble now than he perhaps would have been if he had not fired Comey. Also, Trump's firing the FBI director while under investigation, while perfectly legal, does not create an image of innocence.
