“May the odds be ever in your favor.”
Those eight simple words — best known from the movie-series the "Hunger Games" — can describe the thoughts that flowed through some Americans' minds following last week’s presidential election results.
President-elect Donald J. Trump will take office in January and for half of the country, that’s a difficult concept to grasp. However, the other half of the population would’ve had a difficult time grasping a win by Senator Hillary Clinton had the results gone the other way.
The post-election riots, arguments and disagreements alone are enough to make one want to crawl in a hole … forever — not to mention the continuous threads of hatred on social media.
Whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, as of Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, one thing will not change: Trump will be the face of the United States for the next four years.
There isn’t a post you could click on, write or share that will change it, so why continue to bicker? For crying out loud America, you just turned 240 years old in July. Let’s start acting like it.
Dump Trump this and Hillary that. The election is over people.
We have two more months left of President Barack Obama in office, and then the new leader will go through inauguration. While many are still against him being in office, there isn’t much that can be done to prevent it.
Let’s not fight but rather challenge each other to grow closer as a community, as a state and as a nation as a whole.
You don’t have to agree with everything everyone says, but it takes less effort to express love than it does to dispense your hate. Stop with your Facebook rants because it’s going nowhere other than continuing to stir the pot that is already overcooked.
While some think Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to this country, odds are, the same things would have been said had Hillary won — America just couldn’t win this election. Both candidates were set up for failure by opposing supporters before the election was even over.
As we begin the dawn of a new era, let’s challenge ourselves, America. Let’s do what only we as citizens in the best country in the world can do. Let’s stand together and be one nation, once again.
Stop the hate. Stop the rioting.
Start loving more. Start caring more.
And please, please look at this election as an eye opener. You wouldn’t really want a hip-hop artist as your next president, would you?
