Every day is the same. There is a safe routine with monotonous steps to follow that are usually in the form of a mental to-do list.
Number one starts with waking up. The dread of daily life follows as the bathroom door opens and invites you to the start of your tedious beginning. For breakfast, you enjoy the same plain toast and clouded week old orange juice. Sometimes as you exit your house, the weather matches your mood. The clouds travel down in a haze before your eyes – so much so that life seems like it has a veil of gray over it.
Instead of settling for a black and white version of existence, notice the little things that make you happy and paint your life with emotion, passion and excitement. The only way to truly experience the little things around you is to search and feel with every fiber of your being.
Search for red, like the rusty red brick buildings in an old town, and the red fiery passion in your heart.
Search for orange, like the fizz of Fanta as the liquid pours out from the bottle and the orange humor you feel when your friends’ melodious laughs converge into one beautiful song.
Search for a yellow, like the color of yolk in the center of an egg just ready to serve and the feeling of warmth you get when the yellow beams of sun caress your face.
Search for a green, so vivid like freshly mowed grass, and when someone confides in you about a secret they have, you feel a green so profound it makes you feel special.
Search for a pure, untouchable blue, like a raindrop traveling down the window pane, and a unique blue feeling of déjà vu.
And search for a violet, like the purple eggplant your face scrunched up at in disgust at the grocery store, and feel a violet that makes you feel like you just took a day off and pampered yourself.
Find your own color in the gloom of everyday life, and maybe it’ll make you smile for once.
