I can guarantee that it has been a long few weeks for anyone in college. Late nights in the library, poorly scheduled meal times, and constantly fueling the body with caffeine are the only reasons we survived finals week. But because of these choices, we might not survive much longer. Over break, take the time to do things that you want to do. Here are just a couple of suggestions.

1. TAKE A BREAK

Finals truly take the best parts of us and shove them into the ground. Take this time to not study or spend hours looking at your laptop screen. [Unless you're watching Netflix.]

2. Spend Time With Your Family

Whether it's your mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, grandpa, second-cousin, or long-lost twin, the holiday season is NOTHING without your family. Keep them close during the cold and just remember how thankful you are.

3. Don't Stress About Your Exam Grades

Yeah, I get it. You've spent so much time studying and taking your finals, but you've done all you could. There's nothing left you can do to change your grade, so there's no reason to stress!

4. Spend Time With Your Friends

If you have friends like mine, they're family. Make sure you let them know how much you love them, whether that's through gifts, or simply spending time with one another. Everyone needs some company during the holidays.

5. Plan a Day Trip

Already tired of being home all the time? Hop in your car with a couple of your friends and get away from holiday craziness at home.

6. Make Dinner

When you're at school, you can't always have the meals you want. Because you're on break, you have all the freedom in the world to make whatever you want for dinner.

7. Diet

We all need to do it.

8. Go Sledding

Honestly, sledding is one of the best things to do when it snows. So, go find a big hill, grab a sled, and take all your friends down on a wild ride. Just make sure you don't hit the trees!

9. Have A Holiday Movie Marathon

There are so many classic movies to watch around the holidays, that it would take all of break to watch them all. Let's try it out and see how long it takes.

10. Make Christmas Cookies

Make sure you invite your friends to eat some of the cookies you make because no likes to deal with friend drama, especially if it's over food. Here's a link to some great Christmas cookies and other fun ideas! CLICK HERE!

11. Make Christmas Tree Ornaments

This is definitely something to do with your loved ones, so sit by the fire and make some cute ornaments! Here's a link to get you started! CLICK HERE!

12. Build a Snowman

This seems kind of childish, but who doesn't like remember their childhood years? Go outside and have some fun!

13. Catch Up On Sleep

College really takes everything out of you, so take this time to sleep in and go to bed early. If you have nothing going on one day, sleep. If you're really busy one day, sleep. It's always the answer.

14. Do Yoga

If you do yoga a lot, great! If you've never don't yoga, great. Make sure you sweat out all of your mistakes from the first semester!

15. Go Ice Skating

Who doesn't love having some fun with friends and family, AND if you fall and hurt yourself, there's a ton of ice to help ease the pain!

16. Listen to New Music

Now that you have time to relax and do what you want, maybe it's time to check out that new album by one of your favorite artists, or maybe pick someone new to listen to!

17. Treat Yourself

The winter season is the time for giving, but you can never forget to treat yourself. While you're out shopping for your loved ones, make sure you pick up something nice for yourself.

18. Go To Your Favorite Hometown Restaurant

Everyone has that one restaurant where they live that is just consistently good. It never disappoints. One night, go there and eat whatever you want. Don't worry about diets or counting calories, just go and eat and have a great time.

19. Make Sure Your Instagram Looks Good

Because what's having fun if you don't post it anywhere?

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
