Ahh, summertime. There's no school and we all get to spend every day laying on the beach doing nothing. Summer is a long vacation from the stress of the school year.
However, most of us do not have the luxury of not working over the summer. Finding a decent job that pays enough to fund your summer adventures on your days off and that looming tuition bill can be difficult. Here are 5 struggles college students face when looking for a summer job:
1. You can't decide where to work.
You have no idea where to begin applying. Are you more likely to be hired at Target or Wal-Mart? Or Wegman's? What do you do when they all turn you down?
2. Every application is different.
They are all filled with different variations of the same questions.
"Have you ever stolen from a previous employer?" If I had, would I honestly put it down on this form?
3. You've sent in applications to every store and haven't heard back from any of them.
And when you do hear back from them it's, "We're sorry to inform you, but you are not qualified for this position."
4. You're running out of money and need a J-O-B immediately
Someone will have to hire me eventually! I have to be qualified for something!
5. I've been hired!
Congratulations! You now have a source of income! However, it doesn't take away the envy of seeing your friends Instagram posts of them enjoying the sun and sand at the beach.
