8 Struggles College Students Don't Look Forward to After Winter Break

Having to return to a schedule and dining hall food isn't always fun.

After being home for nearly a month, or sometimes two months for some college students, we do want to go back to college, but at the same time, there are things we do not want to deal with when we return for the spring.

1. No more home-cooked meals.

Unless you live in an apartment and can cook, the rest of us have to return to eating in the dining hall at college. But nothing beats a home-cooked meal or going out for a nice meal with your family.

2. Being away from your pet.

One of the hardest things about going back to college means being away from your pet. Who's going to cuddle with you when you are stressed from all your homework?

3. Being away from family.

When you're home for a month, you get to make up the time you missed with your family. Going back after a month makes you miss them all over again.

4. Buying new textbooks.

After finally getting used to not having to worry about reading for school, it is time to shell out more money for new books.

5. Meeting new professors.

It is time to get used to new professors and their teaching methods, and not to mention getting back into test mode again.

6. Meeting new friends.

You have to start over again with new classes, which means a whole new group of people. It is time to make new friends so you can all help each other in the class.

7. Being away from your own bed.

There is something about sleeping in your own bed at home. But returning to college means getting used to your dorm bed again for the next couple months.

8. Having to get on a schedule again.

At home, I could wake up at 11 and hang out in my pajamas. But now I have to return to a schedule and get back in to getting up early. Not fun, but necessary.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
