How College Students React To The First Snow Fall Of The Season

The first snow day of the year is always exciting, whether it's on a weekend or a school day. After weeks of bitter cold and extreme windchill, the gust of a storm is welcome, giving everyone an excuse to hole up inside with their favorite hot beverage, a blanket and Netflix. Even as someone who hates the snow, the first snowfall of the season seems a little bit magical.

1. When you're waiting for the storm and it's finally begun

It's so exciting! The first flakes are few and far between, but before long they start to rapidly fall.

2. As soon as there's decent coverage, you and your roommates begin to plan out the entire day of snow-filled fun

3. Going outside right after the snowfall

4. When you rediscover the joy of sledding

Why don't I do this more often?

5. And making snow angels

6. Don't forget about snow men!

Admit it, you even sang the song

7. Coming back inside only to realize just how cold you are

A hot shower and warm blanket are your best friend!

8. Realizing you may have to venture outside once again to get dinner

Maybe oatmeal and carrot sticks are fine

9. When you get the e-mail that you need to move your car

Nothing says snow day quite like shoveling your car out. If you wait, everyone else will have shoveled their snow onto your, too.

10. The inevitable Netflix marathon

Before you know it, you've watched an entire season of your favorite show.

11. Despite the cold, the shoveling and slippery sidewalks, you still love the first snowfall because it makes you feel like a kid again.

Because everyone needs an excuse to make a huge mug of cocoa, use four blankets at once and watch way too much television.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
