Your first two years of college are really just adjusting periods where it's okay to skip class every once in a while. It's perfectly acceptable to go out every weeknight and go on as many dates as you want, but as you get older that has to change. You can't be partying as much, focusing on dating, skipping class, and breezing through school.
School gets more challenging and life gets complicated. Once junior year hits, it's really time to start taking control of your life and stop slacking off. I promise you, this is easier said than done. I'm currently learning it the hard way and I wish that I took my first two years more seriously and developed better studying habits than what I currently have.
It's important to put your school work before your social life, which can be extremely challenging especially if you live in a dorm setting. I've had many days where I've had to experience FOMO because I had to study for exams rather than go to the football games or hang out with my friends. It's honestly the worst feeling of missing out but later you will be so proud of yourself when you got an A on that extremely difficult exam rather than an F for hanging out with your friends.
The best advice as a fellow struggling college student that I can give is to learn to balance everything. You can still have fun with your friends while getting good grades, it's all about being able to balance everything. Go to class. Attend your professors study hours. Engage in class and love what you're learning.
This is the rest of your life and you need to make it worth it.
