Study Hard but More Importantly, SLEEP!

Ever feel like you are way too busy to sleep? Or that you just do not want to “adult” on certain days? If so, you are probably in the same boat as a lot of other college students. While I used the term “adult” to be slightly humorous, there is some truth to its saying. I mean, think about it for a second. When you are exhausted the last thing that you want to do is get up and tend to your responsibilities, right? With all the late night study sessions, new assignments, and trying to have a social life all at once, one could probably get quite exhausted easily, don’t you think? Well I know that is definitely a true statement for me. Over the past few months I have been finding myself to be super exhausted, and jumping right back into college has seemed to amplify it all. College students are some of the most stressed and exhausted people you will ever encounter. Some might say, “Well how can you be so exhausted? All you college students do is eat, study, sleep, and hangout with your friends.” And to be honest, that is in fact what we do, to an extent. Except I do not believe that people fully comprehend just how much studying one has to do. Now, don’t get me wrong, we like to have our fun. However, we do have to study and pursue our careers, and learning takes some time my friends. Whether it be from something simple to something complex, we can’t learn it all in one day. For example, how many times do we touch something hot that we know we shouldn’t touch, yet still touch it anyway? Even though that’s a really silly example, it still proves a point. The point is that we take a while to truly comprehend things. Studying for many things at once can be quite timely. Please do not misunderstand me here, I am by no means saying that we have no time at all and we are practically walking zombies. I am just saying that it is just very easy to become exhausted. Although we are adults, we are still learning how to manage our time, and no, we are not always good at it. We may make mistakes, but it is all part of learning to become a better adult and build up a path for success. In order to build up our path, we need to make priorities for ourselves, and realize that sometimes we won’t always be able to do the things we want to do if it interferes with our priorities. Let’s be honest here, sometimes we do not know how to prioritize. This leads us to our exhaustion. So let’s try to learn some of these helpful techniques to manage our time. 1.) Realize that you have to put your studies first. 2.) Actually put in the time and work college takes. 3.) Study more frequently rather than the last second. And last but not least MAKE time to get your rest. Sleep is import. One will not function well without the proper amount of sleep. So all this to say…, Make sure to get rest, keep up on your studies, and enjoy the experience along the way!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
