To The College Student With Senioritis Who Isn't Even A Senior Yet

College is hard, and sometimes it can be easy to lose motivation quickly even when trying to pave a path to success.

I know that things are much harder than you ever expected. Nothing could have prepared you for the intense feelings that anxiety and stress bring when you think about the future. That one class you have that you are struggling so hard to make it through could make or break the future you have so delicately planned for yourself.

You know that these classes aren't even as hard as the ones to come your very last year. Whatever you do, don't give up, because everything you are feeling is entirely normal. This time you have in college is so small compared to the lifetime of success that will follow your hard work.

The dictionary definition of senioritis is as follows: a decline in motivation or academic performance that supposedly afflicts some seniors in high school, especially in their last term.

I think we can all agree that this definition should be revised since senioritis also heavily applies to us as college students. Most of us have come to realize that this severe lack of motivation and willingness to get things done can often happen a lot sooner than just our senior year in college.

It can be hard to feel so unmotivated so early on in one's college career. Remember that you started this for a reason, and the harder you work, the more success will come out of it. If you are overwhelmed with stress trying to reach that success, remember that it is good stress in a sense that something productive can and will come out of it.

A lot of people would give up in this situation, but you are not that person. Stay determined and reach the goals that you set for yourself a long time ago in high school.

Whatever you do, do not ever think you are alone, not even close. Sometimes it can easily feel that way. Many college students who are just like you and experience these feelings of high anxiety and stress often fall into a temporary depression.

If you do feel depressed, remember that depression associated with college life is more common than most people realize, which is why so few people talk about it. It can feel awkward speaking about it at first, especially when someone has never even experienced these emotions before, then it can make it hard to talk about altogether. You don't have to suffer from anxiety or be depressed necessarily, but when life has you feeling frustrated, by all means, find someone to confide in and talk about it.

As people who are trying so hard to succeed, we often put ourselves under a lot of pressure. We all know working hard is just what it takes to pave a path to success, yet our bodies can quickly fall under that pressure from the high standards that we set for ourselves.

What you are going through is not a life crisis, it is something that is overwhelming, but something that you can easily handle if you simply talk about it and get the help one might need in this situation.

If you ever need motivation, look at any successful person who had to go through hard times to get to where they were. Steve Jobs started his business in a garage and now has one of the biggest international companies to exist. Walt Disney was told that he was not a creative person, and now his business dominates the entertainment Industry. Oprah Winfrey was told time and time again that she was not fit to be on television, yet she is now one of the most successful women in America because of her talk show and acting career.

All of these individuals were told that they couldn't do what they had set out to do but proved those who told them so wrong. So, prove yourself wrong, time and time again.

If you think studying for that exam is impossible or you believe that understanding anything that crazy professor said will never happen, prove yourself wrong and overcome. If these fantastic individuals can (literally) conquer what they have set out to do, you can get through your math and science classes. In life, obstacles will be thrown at us from every different direction; it is how we overcome them that matters the most.

I know that in these stressful times when you have all of these obstacles thrown your way that it is easy to think of possible failure. You and every other college student worries that they need to do every little thing perfectly and if you don't then you will fail. Luckily for us, failure in life is necessary, and more times than not failure leads to success.

Failure can turn you onto a different path that you didn't even know existed, or at the least, it will teach you something valuable that will make you a better human in general. Don't aim for failure, but by all means be positive in the presence of it and take the opportunity to learn from it in order to better yourself.

Always remember that none of us are immune to stress that life throws at us. The bigger our dreams, the harder we have to work to cross our designated finish line. For you, that finish line is graduation day.

I know graduation day is all you probably think about. It is the day where all of this crazy hard work will pay off. You probably keep thinking that it will feel so good to get the weight of all of these different classes and different responsibilities off of your shoulders and just focus on that one dream job and finally just live life.

Graduation seems so close, yet so far. It can be unfathomable to think that you still have to do this for another couple of years or so. It can seem like an impossible task, yet so many people do it every single year, and you are no exception.

Reaching that finish line will be one of the best days of your life. Don't stop because you hit some bumps along the way. Throughout your life there will always be times where you want to quit, you feel like you may fail at life, or that the stress you are feeling is too much to handle, but none of these thoughts or feelings should ever overcome you.

If you need help with anything from tutoring to mental health, don't be afraid to ask for it and do what is best for you. You are not alone in this. College is the path that you have chosen and most likely for a good reason. You will make it to that finish line; giving up is not an option. So, get motivated, do your best, love yourself, and overcome.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
