As Thanksgiving break has just passed, almost every college student has mentally checked out of all their school work and classes. Let's be real though, everyone mentally tuned their brain off and focused solely on that Thanksgiving meal by last Wednesday.
The only thing on anyone's mind is that juicy turkey and comfy bed that is calling your name. It's almost as if all of your responsibilities and worries are put on the back burner and now you have an excuse to eat as much as your heart desires and sleep in as late as is humanly possible. If we are being honest, every Auburn college student was guilty of these four following things over break.
1. Eating your weight in turkey and pie
At this point in the game, about four months into the first semester of the year, your meal plan is struggling to stay alive. You are now regretting "needing" that cup of coffee every morning before your class. You remember the many times when you ate at the extremely expensive place on campus and spent 25 dollars on dinner when you could have just eaten an inexpensive sandwich. At this point, you are now having to start budgeting your meal plan in order to make the last $53.45 last for the next three weeks. You are trying to push the idea of starvation before reaching Christmas break out of your mind. This leads every college student to stuff as much food in their stomachs that will fit.
2. Neglecting any potential thoughts about your classes, even though finals week is on the horizon
If at any time thoughts about your responsibilities or finals come into your mind, you have the option of either dealing with them and being responsible, or eating some more pumpkin pie and taking a cozy nap. Every time, without fault, you will choose the latter. When the horrid thoughts of finals appear, you will put a smile on your face and convince yourself that everything is okay while shoving down yet another piece of pumpkin pie.
3. Making your bed into your best friend and never leaving it's side
Whether it's spending all your time in your bed binging on Netflix, eating leftovers, or flat out sleeping all day, you and your bed form a tight relationship over break. The desire to leave your bed only comes when you may need more pie, or when you need to use the restroom.
4. Feeling guilty leaving your pets behind again
The worst of them all, when you come home after four months away and say hello to your precious animals once again and earn their trust back after leaving them for the start of the semester, you must do it once more. You must break their hearts all over again. There is nothing you can do about this because you must leave them behind, as well as your bed, as well as the thanksgiving meal your mom made you, and you must go back to potential starvation and facing the monstrous responsibilities that have piled up over the week. But hey, at least the pie was good right?
