If College Majors Were ‘Game Of Thrones’ Characters
HBO

Have you ever wondered what major your favorite “Game of Thrones” character would declare? Now you can discover for yourself in anticipation for the Season 7 premiere that airs tonight at 9 p.m. on HBO.

1. Communications – Hodor

He may only utter one word throughout his time on the series, but Hodor eventually was able to express one of the most important messages. The trick was getting him to say what he meant.

2. Government/Political Science – Jon Snow

Jon Snow is a great critical thinker when it comes to planning an attack strategy and like a true politician, knows how to weave in order to get what he wants. He may not be everyone’s first choice for leader, but he knows how to appeal to the masses rather than just a small amount.

3. Business – Ned Stark

Ned Stark would be the perfect candidate for a career in business. He was a natural leader with plenty of people skills (he was the only one able to put King Robert in his place, after all) and he was able to problem solve and make the tough decisions, even if it meant sacrificing his life.

4. English Language and Literature – Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion has a way with words and knows how to manipulate them to get exactly what he needs or most wants. He also has a passion for reading, which is pretty important if you are going to commit yourself to studying English and literature. More so, in the first season, he famously says the quote:

“My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer and I have my mind … and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much, Jon Snow.”

5. Psychology – Cersei Lannister

No one knows how to play mind-games better than Cersei. She is capable of tricking you into feeling compassionate for her in one moment, and then despising her and the chaos that she causes in the next moment. She is definitely hard to read and impossible to out-scheme.

6. Nursing – Shae

Shae serves as Sansa Stark’s handmaid and helps Sansa hide her sheets when it is clear that the latter is now a woman and can become impregnated. She may be problematic, but she does try to help Sansa while the young woman is under her care.

7. Chemical Engineering – Olenna Tyrell

Olenna is later revealed to be the one who poisoned Joffrey in order to protect her granddaughter Margaery from his cruelty. Along with the help of Petyr Baelish and Dontos Hollard, who provide her the poison, she knows how best to execute an “experiment.”

8. Athletic Training – Jaime Lannister

Jaime prides himself on being the best at what he does; that being sword fighting and defending Westeros. Even when he loses his sword-wielding hand, he does not acquiesce, and learns to adapt to a new way of fighting.

9. Criminology – Arya Stark

Arya is committed to bringing people to justice, no matter how long it takes. She perseveres more than many on the show, and she has a strongly defined sense of right and wrong, even if it does get distorted on occasion as a result of her youth.

10. Puppetry – Petyr Baelish (“Little Finger”)

If there is anyone who can hold the strings and move them in the proper sequence, it is Little Finger. He has a God complex and makes a habit of setting the wheels-in-motion, even if it is done behind-the-scenes and is not revealed until much later.

11. Gender Studies – Margaery Tyrell

Margaery is open-minded and free-spirited about her own sexuality, as well as the sexuality of others, and would be perfectly suited to study gender in an academic setting.

12. Hospitality Management – Sansa Stark

Sansa lives to please people and fulfill social expectations, even if it jeopardizes her own happiness and she later realizes that it is not what she wants. She generally knows how to play to her audience and early in the series, acquiesces to their wishes, which can be an important factor in dealing with difficult customers.

13. Rhetoric – Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys is capable of winning most arguments and knowing more than one language, she is able to decode messages and see the true meaning behind what people are saying. If she were to stick to that major, chances are that she would make a pretty decent lawyer.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
